Another day dawns in Galt, Illinois, while three ex-GTW 0-8-0 switchers rest quietly on their overgrown siding.

The Lost Engines of Roanoke is about four remarkable engines that somehow survived the end of the steam era, only to face an uncertain
future today. While they are - perhaps - the most dramatic examples in America, they are by no means alone. This section was created to highlight some other
forgotten engines around the country.
Fortunately, since this page was created, all of the locomotives currently listed here have gone to new homes for
cosmetic restoration and display. Although these stories have a happy ending, in all likelihood there are a number of other "lost" or endangered engines out
there that deserve a better fate.
